Immigration:
Canada Issues Record Number of Visitor Visas

Brampton-Springdale MP Parm Gill applauded a Customs and Immigration Canada report that Canada has issued a record number of visitor visas this year. Since January, Canada has issued 500,000 visitors visas; up from approximately 450,000 this same time last year.
“These visas provide the opportunity for people around the world to visit relatives who may have immigrated to Canada,” said Gill, “as well as the chance to take in all that our wonderful nation has to offer.”
Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney issued the statement earlier this week. It is expected that the number of visitors visas granted will exceed one million by the end of the year.
“Canada is the best country in the world, so it is not surprising that so many people want to visit our country,” stated Minister of Citizenship, Immigration & Multiculturalism Jason Kenney in the Monday announcement.
The 500,000 visitor’s visas do not include visas granted to students or temporary workers. It also does not take into account citizens of over fifty countries who do not require visas to come to Canada, which account for over ninety percent of visitors.
